Know your history. And know the history of the business you’re in.

Someone’s probably said that somewhere and if not you heard it here first.

Today’s pile of shame entry, Saboteur!, inspired a bit of personal history shame. I’ve never played, nor had I ever even heard of it before it appeared on our store. Given the game is a bona fide legendary game with influence that’s since rippled throughout gaming time, I might need some kind of corporate cone of shame to atone.

Here’s a short description:

Saboteur! is the classic retro game hit made by Clive Townsend in 1985 for the ZX Spectrum 8-bit computer. In 1985 Saboteur! received the prestigious award “The Crash Smash” from Crash magazine and was high-rated with a 93% score.

Even wikipedia twists the blade of non-participation:

CRASH noted the sound, and the range of movements available, and concluded it is “one of the better releases on the Spectrum this year”. C+VG said it was “a winner”. The game was also voted number 55 in the Your Sinclair Official Top 100 Games of All Time.

As of writing, it’s only $7.99 in the store. With inflation, that’s equivalent to a can of soda or a lollipop. Disregard those usual sugary vices just once and transport yourself back in time to 1985 by buying this storied classic. And don’t forget to let us know what you think in Discord
