How It Works
For many publishers, the majority of sales for a new game occurs in the first 90 to 120 days. As such, we’ve locked the royalty rate at 95% for the first 90 days on all new releases and no one but the publisher is allowed to sell the game during that time.
After all, you took all the risk (and we know all too well what that means given our years in your shoes). During that time, no one is allowed to sell their game.
After 90 days, game sales alternate based on a ‘first-in-first-out’ queue between a new copy (95%) and a gamers’ copy (70%). Robot Cache still only receives 5%. We simply remove the sellers’ game from their library and credit their account 25%.
And since digital copies do not degrade like physical ones, the price is always the same thereby preventing a ‘race-to-the-bottom’.
It’s a win-win for everyone!
