“Dodge obstacles across the island as Skully, a skull reanimated by the power of magical clay.”

Sold. At day 1. I’m a simple person who likes simple concepts and makes mistakes. Can I blame the pandemic for not playing this when it came out? That’s definitely not a reason you say? And it probably makes this MORE embarrassing? Oof…

If the pile of shame has a blade it cuts deepest when a game has the charm of Skully.

Here’s a fully-voiced story-driven adventure game with platforming elements that’s for all ages. Its inspirations are on full display and it’s a clear labor of love from the developers. For that I’m apologetic it even entered the pile of shame.

I’m sorry, Finish Line Games. I should’ve played this in 2020 when I bought it.

In case you’re not familiar with them, they’re also behind Maize, a hilarious dark comedy with violent corn stalks, a stuffed bear, and…well go play it. This is a studio with a sense of humor and the know-how to realize it.

So here we are, 2023, Skully’s aged incredibly well and you should join the RC team in playing it. Together we can ‘Traverse a mysterious island.’ and ‘Roll through 18 different levels in 7 distinct ecosystems each packed with unique dangers.’

Before we dive in, I’m already excited just to see what’s next from Finish Line. And I promise you, I’ll be more studious in my immediate playthroughs with your games next time.
